How to Play I Spy

Then they’ll look at the large group of Halloween objects, and count how many there are of each type of object.

The different shapes show up in all different sizes, so encourage your kids to look carefully!!

When and where to play Halloween I Spy

There are lots of great times to use these cute Halloween printable games.

Here are some of our favorites:

  • during dinner prep
  • on long car trips
  • waiting in line
  • at the pumpkin patch
  • waiting at the doctor’s or dentist’s office
  • on a rainy inside day
  • during quiet time
  • while waiting for a sibling at practice or rehearsal

Additionally, these Halloween I Spy Printable Games are perfect to play with a larger group! They’d work really well for a classroom Halloween party, a local or church harvest festival, or a fun Halloween homeschool activity.

Variations for these Halloween I Spy games

If you have older or younger kids, we’ve got an easy variation for our Halloween I Spy printables that you could easily try.

Descriptive I Spy

For younger kids who can’t count or write, try playing descriptive I Spy. This is very similar to the traditional style of the game I Spy.

Instead of finding an object around the room, choose a picture on the I Spy page without telling your child which one you’ve selected.

Then describe it to your child (including its location on the page,) and see if they can figure out which object you’ve selected.

Competitive Halloween I Spy

For older kids, competitive Halloween I Spy can be a lot of fun.

You can either set a timer for 2 minutes to see who can find the most of each of the items.

Or you could also have a race! Give everyone their I Spy page and have them keep them face-down until you say it’s time to start. Then see who can get the most accurate answers in the least amount of time!
